SO HOW DO YOU HEAR FROM GOD?

Great teaching last night on this subject by one of YWAM's leaders in Brazil.

A summary of his teachings:

1. People hear YWAMers talk about "hearing from God" and want to try themselves

2. They go into quiet room and listen for God & don't hear him. They wonder why???

3. The best way to hear from God, especially when you first begin, is to include the Bible and the Holy Spirit in it listening sessions.

4. We believe the Bible is the "living word of God". It is alive. It is not just a book. It is God.

5. So to hear from God you should:

A. Bring your pains, joys, decisions, etc etc to mind in a quiet place. Your place.

B. Ask the Holy Spirit to come join you.He is always there with us, but take a moment to recognize his presence, his truth, his authority, his love, all the blessing in your life. Jesus left the HS to be with us and to guide us. EXPECT TO HEAR FROM HIM/HER.

C. open up your bible. God's word. I recommend the new testament at first. Especially the books right after John in the Bible. Corinthians, Romans, etc.

D. Read a chapter or two of bible. Romans 1 for example.

E. reread and MEDITATE ON THE VERSES/SENTENCES THAT STAND OUT TO YOU.

F. Review your life and the thoughts you brought to this session. Also listen for new thoughts that are popping into your mind.

G. Pray to the HS to speak to you To bring clarity.

H. EXAMINE HOW YOUR LIFE AT THIS MOMENT IS CONNECTING TO TO THE LIVING WORD YOU JUST READ.

I. the peace, the understanding, the loving direction you sense... That is God speaking.

There are many ways to hear, see, experience God. But I hope this example blesses you and draws you closer to God's truth!
