Jessica: The Wife of Noble Character

This week our guest speaker is Uncle Peni, a big 30 year Somoan and YWAM veteran.  He came to Kona from Somoa to help build this base when it was a deserted hotel and jungle.  We are talking hatchet and elbow grease.  He is quite a man of Faith, quite a Father to many, quite a husband.  When he speaks, you feel like as wise old Father is speaking.

Peni had received short bio's on each of us, and has been praying for us for the past few weeks, asking God for a Bible verse, and meaningful words for us.  I had the great pleasure of watching Jessica read the below Bible verse in front of the class after Uncle Peni gave it to her.  Peni had never met Jessica, but he picked the perfect verse that brought tears to our eyes and hit Jessica squarely in her heart.  It was beautiful....

What a picture, study it for details :-)

Proverbs 31:10-31 (NIV)

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

Jess rises first every morning to feed her
family & do bible study

You can tell a Mother by her children!

 10A wife of noble character who can find?
   She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
   and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
   all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
   and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
   bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
   she provides food for her family
   and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
   out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;    her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
   and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff
   and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
   and extends her hands to the needy.
21
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
   for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
   she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
   where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
   and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;

  she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom,
   and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27
She watches over the affairs of her household
   and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
   her husband also, and he praises her:
29
“Many women do noble things,
   but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
   but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
   and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Anyone that really, really knows Jess knows this verse could not be more true.

Jessica is soooo Charming and soooo beautiful.  I here people say these wonderful things about her EVERYDAY.  Her charm and beauty are the blossom coming from her deep roots of her love of her Creator, her Savior.

When I look into her eyes, I know there is a wonderful God, "and if he made her, he's in love with me!"

Jessica is always such a great role model for us all (me and our kids especially).  It has been fun to watch her continue to blossom as a woman of God here in Kona.  Of course all the young women in our DTS class look up to her, but her influence is seen all over the campus.

All these young college age girls that are trying to find their identity here look up to Jessica for her gentleness, authenticity and spirit.  She is a servant leader.  A woman of God.

  6. I wrote a huge post before the one above, but I managed to lose it!! I am so proud of you all and grateful for this amazing time you are having as a family.
    Jessica, from the passage of Scripture that was shared with you comes one of my life verses, Proverbs 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." This is a prayer for myself. I cried as I thought of you reading this passage and the Spirit touching your heart with it, as well. Blessings on you sister.
    As you know the HCS team leaves in 2 days for Mexico. I am so excited for those going! We all know it can be a life changing experience and I am praying for this result. You probably know this, but Jenny Courter is going to spend next year in Mexico teaching in a small orphanage. She is excited and challenged at the same time. I'm praying that God will use her in a mighty way for advancing His kingdom.
    Hugs all around to the family. I love you all and miss you. Would you ever consider HCS as your school home again? Molly Lawton
