Me with two funny old lady. Woman on left won Japanese ping pong championship as young woman. Her son studied at Carnegie Mellon & was a pastor in Santa Barbara before moving back home with her grandchildren.
Note, praise band guitar player is blind.
Service started like Catholic with "we believe in Christ crucified under Pontious Pilot..." (In Japanese of course)
And "we praise Father, Son & Holy Ghost..."
But then modern praise band & sermon felt more protestant.
They sing combination of church hymns & praise band.
Awesome sermon on Romans 6,7,8 and law vs. grace. "Why do I keep sinning & do the things I know I don't want to do?!?!"
Our new Japanese church home :). Feels good!
