Person of Peace

Missions 101: how do you go into a place & have a real impact? Especially when you don't know the customs or language.

Walk door to door evangelizing? Stand on a street corner with a cross and a microphone?

NOT!!!!!

YWAM teaches us to pray for and look for THE PERSON OF PEACE in the region where you are missioning.

Of course this is biblical if YWAM teaches it. Luke 10:4-6, Matthew 10:11 describe this person & relationship. Jesus developed the POP SOP (Standard Operating Procedure :) when he sent his disciples out.

The Person of Peace (POP) is a person that has a heart for God (even if they know nothing of him yet) plus have influence & access in the community.

By forging relationship with this person you are respectful and effective.

Well, the great news is that on our second full day here we believe that we met a POP for our neighborhood!!! We didn't even have to look for her, she just came up to us!!!

Her name is Keiko (Cay-koe). We have been praying for her for months and asking God for her. Like an angel she just walked into our lives. We are helpless here, but with her we are growing in spirit & relationship.

David & I were hanging laundry out to dry & a phone repair guy saw us Americans and asked a few questions in broken English. Then he suddenly ran away and reappeared back with Keiko

A gentle, smart woman that works in the office bldg across from our apt. She speaks great English, has visited Vancouver & Australia. Our first visit was brief.

Then she reappeared the next morning with a gift of Japanese fans for us all. We asked her how recycling worked & she returned with a schedule chart later that day. She said the neighbors were all wondering who we were, how long we'd be here, etc!!!

Next day we asked her where the bakery is & she grabbed her umbrella and escorted Jessica & the kids in the rain making conversation. On that walk David scraped his foot & later she returned to our home with medicine for his scrape! Who is this angel???!!!

Next she introduced us to the neighbor boys that we taught to play football & this weekend she wants to have an open house for us!!!

Doors are opening for us & we are not even trying!!! God is so good. We are just doing the possible & He is doing the impossible!!!

Keiko even says she prays to a God!!! But she doesn't know who it is or if its the same God we believe in!!! Are you kidding me!!!

How else can we use this teaching? What are you trying to accomplish in business? Family? Community? Who is your person of peace?

How can you be a person of peace? Who needs your influence & access to spread their worthy mission?
